An unfortunate side effect of living with cats is the occasional encounter with wounded baby animals brought home as "gifts". Our black cat Booger has a reputation for being a killer, but at times he has managed to carry a healthy unharmed baby animal to the doorstep. Such was the case with a squirrel named Erk.
